NEW DETAILS: Skier injured in avalanche near Girdwood

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A skier was injured Saturday in the Girdwood Valley area during a human-triggered avalanche, Forest Service Avalanche Forecaster Daniel Krueger with the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Center.

Krueger said three people were climbing up Max’s Mountain when one of them triggered the avalanche.

β€œThat avalanche was large enough to carry and bury one of the individuals. They were rescued and they had sustained serious injury and requested a helicopter to evacuate them from the field,” he said…
