Suspect dead after Anchorage officer-involved shooting ends in large house fire, chief says

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — A man is dead after an early-morning standoff with Anchorage police, according to Chief Sean Case — one in which officers say he fired a high-powered rifle, tried to shoot down a police drone, and set the home he was in on fire.

Dispatchers, according to Case, received four calls reporting gunshots at 12011 Shore Circle in south Anchorage around 3:27 a.m. Saturday.

Some neighbors reported they thought the suspect was moving outside and said they heard four to five shots, including one neighbor who said they thought their upper window had been shot out…
