High School Wrestling wraps up with state meet

Wrestlers from forty-one girls varsity wrestling teams and forty-two Division II boys teams represented their schools and communities while competing in the 2025 Alaska Schools Activities Association’s Wrestling State Championships this past weekend in Anchorage.

The tournament was divided into three categories: Girls (both Division I and II) and boys Divisions I and II.

Athletes from small schools competed in Division II. The Soldotna Lady Stars took first place in the Girls division. Coming in second was Wasilla High School, and in 3rd was Colony High School. Mt. Edgecumbe Lady Braves placed 11th, and the team from Newhalen placed 14th. The Bethel Lady Warriors finished in 17th place…
