Following dry spell, light snow looks to return to Southcentral this weekend

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – Ample dry time is still with many areas of the state, as our slow climb out of the deep freeze continues. Anchorage will officially close this March as the coldest on record, with the upcoming forecast keeping highs at or above freezing. We’re still awaiting the first official day when temperatures climb above freezing in the Interior, something that hasn’t happened since Halloween of last year.

SOUTHCENTRAL:

Sunny skies have been prevalent across Southcentral for the last week, with a few more days of sunny weather to be expected. Daily highs continue to warm, with afternoon highs today set to warm at or above freezing. Much like yesterday, some areas of Southcentral could see temperatures warming into the 40s. By mid-week, cloud cover will begin to slowly build back in across Southcentral, as a low moves to our south. While we’ll stay dry for Southcentral, Kodiak could see a rain/snow mix Wednesday night into Thursday. The rest of Southcentral will tap into a chance for some light snow showers into the weekend…
