‘I wish I had an answer:’ Mat-Su Borough stops pumping as 3rd day of flooding continues in neighborhood

WASILLA, Alaska (KTUU) – Five families on Marilyn Circle outside of Wasilla continued to navigate high floodwaters Friday as the Mat-Su Borough said it stopped pumping and does not plan to continue further assistance at the moment.

“Our crews were there through about 2 o’clock this morning when our pump quit working,” Tom Adams, the Public Works Director for the Mat-Su Borough, said. “And then this morning we reevaluated. It looked like the water level had dropped.”

The water remained several feet high Friday, though residents reported it had receded about 2 feet since Thursday. Elicia Turner, a Wasilla resident, said the water was still unsafe and freezing overnight…
