Michigan town has 4 indie coffee shops — the newest serves Yiayia’s Greek desserts

Farmington seems small on paper, with fewer than 12,000 residents packed into just over 2.5 square miles. But its downtown is dense with bustling small businesses, including four independent cafes.

The newest, Odysseus Coffee Chocolate and Nuts, 23629 Farmington Road, opened Wednesday, May 27. A steady stream of customers appeared, eager to try the organic coffees, spinach pie and desserts. Odysseus replaces the former smoothie and juice bar, Sipp.

Some of the shop’s employees, like manager Voula Konstantopoulos, speak Greek. That’s helpful for customers who want the spinach pie or the orange blossom-water-drenched cake but can’t pronounce spanakopita or portokalopita…
