Stage where Grateful Dead once played in Ann Arbor slated for demolition soon

ANN ARBOR, MI — In the summer of 1967, there was a new band from the San Francisco Bay Area making waves that rippled across the country.

The Grateful Dead, led by a young Jerry Garcia, was on its first national tour and played the Grande Ballroom in Detroit. They decided to come check out Ann Arbor the next day.
