ANN ARBOR, MI — Local Ann Arbor architectural historian Susan Wineberg discovered Ella Hall’s 20th-century recipes on her landlord’s table in about the 1980s.
Believing the finding significant, Wineberg, who lived at 311 E. Ann St. in the city’s Old Fourth Ward north of downtown for 19 years, gave them right away to the University of Michigan William L. Clements Library.
Decades later and 64 years after Hall’s death, “The Ella E. Hall Recipe Book” was published for the first time in June through the University of Michigan Press. The book includes more than 50 of Hall’s clippings…
