WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — Despite three broken bones, five surgeries, ten surgeons, two blood clots, three years, and a “no” from almost every doctor, Deputy Jessica VanBynen is back behind the wheel.
VanBynen, 28, returned to road patrol for the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office on June 18, nearly four years after she was hit by a vehicle during a traffic stop in Ypsilanti Township.
“When (my doctor) said yes and was signing his name off on my paperwork, I started to tear up,” VanBynen said. “And he knew exactly why, because he knows the whole story.”…
