Looking for a fun and affordable family outing this week? Greenfield Village is opening its gates for FREE on Tuesday, July 8, from 5pm to 7pm as part of the nationwide Sharing the Spirit of America celebration. It’s a rare opportunity to stroll one of Metro Detroit’s most beloved attractions at no cost while taking part in a meaningful event honoring America’s 250th anniversary.
FREE Greenfield Village Admission – July 8
Visitors are invited to explore Greenfield Village during a special two-hour, non-ticketed event celebrating the 250th anniversary of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. At 6:00 p.m., guests will join communities across the country in a synchronized public reading of the Declaration, recreating the historic moment that took place on July 8, 1776.
During the evening, families can:
- Live musical performances
- 1876 Centennial Games on the Green
- Interactive activities including Weave a Wish For America at 250 and Experiment With History: Would I have signed the Declaration in 1776?
- Participate in the nationwide reading of the Declaration of Independence at 6pm
