The Black Crowes and Whiskey Myers Southern Hospitality Tour rolled into Pine Knob Music Theatre near Detroit on Saturday. The Crowes nodded to influential Michigan-born band The Stooges by dusting off a rare cover of “1969.”
Frontman Chris Robinson and guitarist Rich Robinson led their band through the favorite “Remedy” to kick off The Black Crowes’ set in Clarkston, Michigan. The song joined three other tracks originally appearing on the rockers’ second album, 1992’s The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, alongside “Sting Me,” “My Morning Song” and “Thorn In My Pride.”
The Black Crowes also delivered four choice covers throughout the concert including their recently debuted take on Led Zeppelin deep cut “The Rover” as well as The Velvet Underground’s “Oh Sweet Nuthin’” and The Crowes’ classic cover of Otis Reddings’s “Hard To Handle.”…
