The FBS Oversight Committee has weighed in on the controversy surrounding theWestern Michigan (WMU) vs. Michigan game. It was determined that protocols were not followed at the end of the game, but outcomes can’t be overruled once a game ends.
“The committee consulted with national officiating leadership regarding the instant replay protocols. Based on that information, the committee agreed that the instant replay protocols were not followed in the contest’s second-to-last play,” the committee said. “Had the protocols been followed, the outcome of the game would have been different.”
