More than 100 people chanted “Regents, regents, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide” throughout the University of Michigan campus Wednesday afternoon in a walkout marking three years since Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
The protest — organized by Students Allied for Freedom and Equality — called for the University to divest from its financial and academic relationships with Israel.
Protesters started at the President’s House, looping onto State Street and ending in front of the Central Campus Transit Center. Other chants included “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free; from the sea to the river, Palestine will live forever” and “Israel bombs, U of M pays, how many kids did you kill today?”…
