BRIGHTON — When Anna Browne’s first option wasn’t available, her parents searched for another activity for their 4-year-old daughter.
Plan B has worked out just fine for Browne, now a senior at Brighton High School.
She has been involved in gymnastics for nearly 14 years, rising to the upper ranks of the Michigan high school scene in that sport.
It wasn’t her first choice, but she quickly embraced gymnastics after signing up for classes at Infinity Gymnastics in Brighton.
“I originally wanted to do dance classes, but my parents couldn’t find any that worked with their schedules,” said Browne, the Livingston Daily Athlete of the Week. “So, I took a gymnastics class and ended up really loving it.”
Gymnastics has elements of dancing in some events, so Browne has been able to blend both passions.
“I really enjoy the dance aspects of floor and beam,” she said. “I took a few dance classes when I was really young. Pretty much once I started gymnastics, I’ve been keeping with gymnastics.”
Browne had to take a year off from gymnastics as a freshman at Brighton because of a back injury, but she’s been a key member of the team the past three seasons.
