According to a source close to the situation, a change in title is expected, but the important news is that Bowden has rebuffed overtures from Michigan and will remain at Notre Dame with Marcus Freeman .
Bowden has had a dynamic impact on Notre Dame since his arrival, which came back in 2021. After serving as the recruiting director for the defense at Cincinnati, Bowden came to Notre Dame with Freeman to serve in the same role. Once Freeman was named the head coach he promoted Bowden to director of recruiting for the entire team.
Notre Dame’s 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes were the first full classes with Bowden running the recruiting operation, and the Irish classes generated more total points and a higher per play average than every recruiting class from 2014-22, and from every class from 2009-12. Only the 2013 class was graded higher or had a higher per player average.
