Man charged with attacking woman in Ann Arbor ruled competent to stand trial

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – A judge has found an Ann Arbor man charged with attacking a woman in an apartment building competent to stand trial. Theophilius Smith, 43, can be tried on a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, 14-A1 District Court Judge J. Cedric Simpson found on Thursday, Feb. 8. The felony carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
