‘Corrosive milky liquid’ seeps from old downriver Detroit steel site

RIVERVIEW, MI – Michigan regulators have ordered an owner of the former McLouth Steel property to figure out what is causing a corrosive liquid to seep from the ground. On Thursday, Feb. 8, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) said a “corrosive milky liquid” has been pooling around the railroad tracks on the north end of the contaminated property in the downriver city of Riverview.
