Suspect is chased down and arrested after robbing bank in Saline: police

SALINE (WWJ) — Police have a suspect in custody in connection with a bank robbery in Washtenaw County’s Saline.

At around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, the Saline Police Department says officers responded to Old National Bank on North Maple Rd., after calls came in that the robbery had just taken place.

Bank employees told police the suspect handed a note to a teller demanding money and implied he was armed with a weapon.

After the robbery, the suspect fled, reportedly getting into a white truck, before quickly jumping back out and fleeing on foot.

A description of the robber went out over the radio, and an officer in the area spotted him running across Michigan Ave. near Maple Rd., police said. She and another officer gave chase, and took the suspect into custody.

Police officers from the Pittsfield Township and Milan Police Departments, Michigan State Police, as well as deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office all responded to assist the Saline Police, including with gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses.
