86-year-old Ann Arbor woman killed in pedestrian crash

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) A pedestrian crash killed an 86-year-old Ann Arbor woman, police said.

Ann Arbor Police said officers responded to Barber Avenue and Ravenwood Avenue, in the area of Dexter and M-14, for a 911 call of a crash involving a pedestrian. They received the call around 12:22 a.m. on Saturday (8/18).

When officers arrived, the pedestrian was not responsive. Officers started CPR until Ann Arbor Fire Department and Huron Valley Ambulance (HVA) arrived. HVA rushed her to University of Michigan Medical Center Emergency Department. She died at the hospital from her injuries shortly after, police said.

Police learned a single vehicle struck the pedestrian while she was walking in the roadway, but no other details were released.

The driver of the vehicle is an Ann Arbor woman, 22, according to police. They told WWJ she stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor.
