Ron Weiser loses GOP nomination for University of Michigan regent seat

ANN ARBOR, MI – Ron Weiser, one of two Republicans on the University of Michigan Board of Regents, did not win the party’s nomination for the November general election. Weiser, the former Michigan GOP chair, who first won his regents seat in 2016, lost his re-election bid during the Republican party’s Saturday, Aug. 24 convention. There are two seats at stake on Nov. 5, with Republicans Sevag Vartanian and Carl Meyers and Democrats incumbent Denise Ilitch and challenger Shauna Ryder Diggs now on the ballot.
