Several allegations of unfair labor practices against a Chipotle store in the Lansing area have been found to have merit.

That’s according to a press release from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which said that Elizabeth Kerwin, the agency’s director of Region 7-Detroit, found that there was merit to the allegation that the Delta Township Chipotle location violated the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) by telling employees that Chipotle couldn’t provide raises because they were unionized, and that it unlawfully withheld raises because they were unionized.

Kerwin also found Chipotle unlawfully disciplined an employee because the employee engaged in union activity and to discourage others from engaging in union activity.

In response, Chipotle’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Laurie Schalow, sent Michigan Advance the following statement when asked to comment.

“We respect our employees’ rights to organize under the National Labor Relations Act and are committed to ensuring a fair, just, and humane work environment that provides opportunities to all. We have been bargaining in good faith on the first union agreement at our Saginaw Highway restaurant…as evidenced by the dates of our first proposed terms, however, as was the case with our first offers to sit at the negotiating table after the vote, there have been a long delays in scheduling by the union to meet us at the table, which is occurring yet again and we are now planned to resume negotiations later this fall,” said Schalow.
