Steve Spurrier saw Jim Harbaugh’s destruction of Michigan coming

Steve Spurrier believes Sherrone Moore was left with little to succeed at Michigan and blames championship-winning ex-Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh – who left for the NFL in January and gave Moore no chance to find a JJ McCarthy replacement in the transfer portal – for the team’s current situation.

Funnily enough, Michigan hadn’t played a game yet when Spurrier made these comments.

“That coach (Moore), he doesn’t have much of a chance with what (Jim) Harbaugh left him,” Spurrier said to Gainesville (Fla.) Sun columnist Pat Dooley on “Another Dooley Noted Podcast back” in June.

“Thirteen from one team drafted, and something like eight on defense, nine on offense, or something like that. So it’ll take them a while to get back to a team like they had last year. That’s for sure.”

Spurrier’s comments re-entered the news cycle after the Wolverines beat Arkansas State at home on September 14. Davis Warren was benched after throwing three interceptions and replaced with Alex Orji, who has thrown seven passes in his career.
