Church pastor used hidden bathroom camera for two years, Sheriff says

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — For at least two years a 2|42 Community Church pastor “intermittently” placed a hidden video camera in a church bathroom, according to Livingston County Sheriff Mike Murphy.

A church staff member discovered a hidden camera in a unisex bathroom in the backstage area of the church’s Brighton location on Friday, according to a recorded statement published by the church on YouTube .

Upon confrontation, the church says now former Worship Pastor Director Will Johnson confessed that he was the one who placed it there. The church says he was “immediately terminated,” and staff proceeded to notify the local authorities, and Johnson was arrested by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office late Friday night.

Sheriff Murphy says deputies also searched Johnson’s home and took all electronic devices into evidence for forensic analysis.

Johnson was arraigned on Sunday in the 53rd District Court on charges of:

  • Surveilling an unclothed person
  • Destruction of evidence
  • Use of a computer to commit a crime.
