DEARBORN (WWJ) — A Metro Detroit school was placed on lockdown on Thursday, after a bullet casing was found in a bathroom.
According to the Dearborn Police Department, the precautionary lockdown went into effect Thursday morning at Dearborn High School, located on Outer Dr. in Dearborn.
Police said the lockdown was lifted at around 11:30 a.m., and school activities have returned to normal.
Earlier, police said when “a bullet casing was discovered in a restroom within the school,” the school initiated a “soft lockdown” and informed the Police School Resource Officers.
Police responded, and officers with K-9 teams searched the premises.
There are no reports that anyone has been hurt, and police said there is no known threat to staff or students at this time.
At this point, there is no information about where the bullet casing came from.
People should expect to see a police presence in the area, as the investigation continues.
