ANN ARBOR, MI – The former Ypsilanti Middle School employee accused of choking a student with his shirt pleaded no contest to aggravated assault.
The misdemeanor is punishable by up to one in prison and $1,000 in fines for 30-year-old Joshua Smith.
Two other charges are to be dismissed at sentencing, according to a May 8 order in Washtenaw County Trial Court.
