This top-notch Ypsilanti dinner spot also has elite, thick-cut sandwiches

YPSILANTI, MI – I started writing about food for The Ann Arbor News almost three years ago. It wasn’t even called Dish of the Week yet.

I made a few key mistakes with my first column. One, I erroneously named it Ann Arbor’s Best Food despite starting in Ypsilanti with the cornmeal trout at Bellflower. I also didn’t connect that the single best restaurant in Washtenaw County is a mere block away from Déjà Vu Showgirls.

My last error: I failed to highlight Bellflower’s massive sandwiches. I will correct that over the next few hundred words, as I devoured the milk bread and jampacked meats and cheeses of the Bellflower Italian sandwich.
