YPSILANTI, MI — Elected city officials in Ypsilanti will not see pay bumps this year.
Compensation for the city’s councilmembers, mayor and mayor pro tem will remain the same after the city council voted narrowly 4-3 to reject proposed raises for themselves.
They were divided on the issue, with some arguing that pay increases would allow a more diverse group of people to run for city elected offices. Others did not want to take a raise when there are plenty of needs in the city…
