‘They hurt my baby.’ Woman charged foster family shooting has courtroom outburst

PITTSFIELD TWP., MI — A woman charged with killing members of a foster family accused them of abusing her child during a court outburst Thursday morning.

“I’m not no demon. I’m not no monster,” Shuvonne Vinson, 42, told the court at the end of her June 5 hearing. “These people were hurting my daughter.”

Vinson is one of three people accused of breaking into a home in the 200 block of Nollar Bend Road in Northfield Township, north of Ann Arbor, and fatally shooting Jennifer Bernhard, 48, and her father Stevie Ray Smith, 74. They also allegedly shot and injured Jennifer’s husband Jeffrey Bernhard, who survived and called 911 from a neighbor’s home…
