Tennis Courts, Ice Rinks, A Car Wash: Inside Domino’s Founder’s $9 Million Mansion

Michigan native Tom Monaghan has left quite an impact on the state. In 1960, after serving in the Marine Corps, Tom and his brother Jim bought a small pizzeria called DomiNick’s for dirt cheap. In a short time, the newly named Domino’s would quickly expand and become a pizza empire.

Always a fan of the Detroit Tigers, he became the owner of the Tigers from 1983 to 1992, playing a role in the team’s 1984 World Series Championship.

With all this success came a desire to settle down and focus on his Catholic faith, and Monaghan chose to live in Ann Arbor near his aunt and uncle, where he raised 4 daughters and created an estate that features everything anyone could ever want: tennis and basketball courts, ice rinks, green house, a spa, a car wash, and more. This incredible residence could be yours for a measly $9 million.

The Retreat at Turtle Point

Monaghan spent much of his life appreciating architecture, especially that done by Frank Lloyd Wright. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because there is a Frank Lloyd Wright house here in Grand Rapids. So when Monaghan built his massive estate dubbed The Retreat at Turtle Point, it was heavily inspired by the works of this great architect.
