A 41-year-old Detroit mom accused of murdering her 9-year-old son, binding his hands and feet, and burying him in a shallow grave in the backyard of her rental home in northwest Detroit has been found to be “incompetent but restorable” for trial, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday.
The finding at a competency hearing on Monday means that authorities determined Brandee Katrice Pierce’s current mental state prevents her from standing trial, reasoning that she doesn’t understand the nature of legal proceedings or can assist in her own defense.
