Police: Driver was ‘reckless’ when vehicle crashed, overturned on US-23 with child inside

A single-vehicle crash along northbound US-23 near Crouse Road in Hartland Township involving a 34-year-old Wayland resident and his 5-year-old son remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release from LCSO, deputies responded shortly before 4:30 p.m. July 10 to reports of a crash. Preliminary investigation showed the 34-year-old, who was allegedly driving in a “reckless manner,” lost control of the vehicle, which struck the median barrier and overturned.

LCSO said the man’s 5-year-old son was in the vehicle and restrained in a car seat. The driver, who allegedly wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, suffered minor injuries and was transported to U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor by Livingston County EMS. His son was transferred, too, but as a “precautionary measure,” police said…
