The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is raising awareness for the rising number of domestic violence cases in Monroe County. At the county fair, members of the office handed out purple t-shirts and wristbands, which is the color that most domestic violence agencies use.
“It brings awareness, reminds people that there are services and opportunities for those suffering, or victims of domestic violence,” said Sheriff Troy Goodnough.
The Sheriff’s Office posted the numbers of domestic violence calls they’ve responded to in the last three years: 1,072 in 2022; 1,103 in 2023; 1,086 in 2024; and 585 in the first six months of 2025…
