Truck crash closes part of westbound I-96 in Livingston County for hours

A truck crash Monday morning on westbound I-96 in Livingston County has closed that section of the freeway for hours, with no word yet as to when it will reopen.

The Michigan State Police report a 2014 Peterbilt semi tractor-trailer was westbound when the driver, a 65-year-old Harper Woods man, failed to maintain control of the vehicle. The truck struck the ramp/bridge from eastbound Grand River Avenue to eastbound I-96, which caused the tractor and trailer to detach from each other.

The collision forced the tractor about 100 feet into the ditch, with the trailer blocking the westbound lanes of I-96…
