The annual Howell Melon Festival, a community tradition celebrating the city’s agricultural roots, turns 65 this year. The event will feature popular activities, including the Howell Melon Run, Howell melon ice cream, and live music.
The fun kicks off Thursday, Aug. 14, with the opening of the Melon Festival Tent on State Street. There will be a night of trivial, as well as a free concert by local musician Jason Harper.
Friday features the Howell Melon Run 5K and One in a Melon Mile. Hundreds of runners will enjoy a route that takes them through Howell’s historic neighborhoods, Scofield Park, and Lakeview Cemetery…
