From marching band to wiring homes: Detroit teen’s unique path

DETROIT – At just 19 years old, Alex Bojanowski is already helping light up homes across southeast Michigan. He’s an apprentice electrician with AJ Danboise in Farmington Hills, a company that’s been around for nearly a century.

Fresh out of high school, Alex was offered music scholarships to college. But he had other ideas.

“I had a few opportunities. I could have went to a few places for marching band, a few places for mountain bike racing, but by the end of my four years of high school, I just really didn’t want to do any more classrooms,” Alex said. “I just really wanted to start working and get my hands dirty.”…
