Westland woman charged with hitting man with car found not guilty by reason of insanity

WESTLAND – April Graves was found not guilty by reason of insanity, a year after police say she intentionally drove her vehicle into multiple other vehicles and ultimately left a new father of twins an amputee.

Graves was determined to be not guilty by reason of insanity on Aug. 19, a determination made after Graves was examined by the state Center for Forensic Psychiatry. Graves had been charged with more than a dozen felonies, including two counts of attempted murder.

“It’s really frustrating for me personally, because how can you commit 17 felonies and not be found responsible?” asked Luke Vinsko. “I could have lost my life, and my wife the same, she was right next to me when it all went down.”…
