Michigan Man Shot In Yard After 18-Mile Movie Theater Chase

Police arrest a 22-year-old man who allegedly followed a couple 18 miles from a Canton movie theater before shooting the victim.

A dispute that began at a movie theater in Canton escalated dramatically on Sunday night, resulting in a 40-year-old Sumpter Township man being shot twice outside his home.

According to the Sumpter Township Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 46000 block of Reed at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, on a report of a shooting. They arrived to find the victim, a local resident, with gunshot wounds to his upper left chest and a graze wound on his right cheek. He was transported to a nearby hospital by HVA.

An investigation revealed that the incident began at the Emagine Theater in Canton. A 22-year-old male from Wayne, later identified as Dominic Michael McBride, allegedly had a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend and another man.
