University of Michigan survey says Americans are uneasy about economy

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — A University of Michigan survey shows Americans are still worried about the economy, with confidence levels holding steady in October but remaining well below last year’s numbers.

The Consumer Sentiment Index stayed around 55, showing little change from September. Researchers said people who own significant stock investments reported feeling more optimistic about the economy than those who do not.
