Food pantries brace for SNAP disruption: Some see panic, others prepared

David Priede is bracing for what could be a difficult month without the SNAP benefits his family relies on.

The 43-year-old South Lyon resident lives with Type 1 diabetes, stage 2 kidney disease, gastroparesis and multiple sclerosis, conditions that make steady work near impossible.

“We would be screwed without Active Faith,” said Priede, 43, of the food pantry that serves his community. “They are a godsend, and without them, we would struggle with whether we can eat or pay the light bill… It takes a village and I am so grateful we have this in our town.”…
