Children Seek Justice 42 Years After Michigan Mom Was Stabbed to Death: “It’s Time”

It’s been more than four decades since Belinda Gardella was stabbed to death, but her children want answers—even if it leads investigators close to home.

“Justice for my mom, that’s all I’m asking for,” her son Ron Gardella told Oxygen’s Cold Justice during the Nov. 8 episode.

To carry out that mission, Cold Justice prosecutor Kelly Siegler and defense attorney Murray Newman teamed with detectives from Michigan’s Redford Township Police Department to see whether they could provide the family with answers.

What Happened to Belinda Gardella?

Although Belinda and her ex Paul Gardella were divorced, they made the unusual move to spend time together with their children on Sept. 25, 1983. Paul told investigators that while driving his ex-wife home after a family dinner, they stopped at an intersection and two men approached the car, tried to steal Belinda’s purse and stabbed her in the process.
