CANTON TWP. — Roundabouts, right-turn lanes, resurfacing and more are on the horizon as the township lays out road plans for the years ahead.
Canton Township Engineering Services Manager Charles Larocque presented a five-year roadmap for local and major road improvements during a recent township board meeting, highlighting millions of dollars in upgrades and a slate of projects stretching through 2029.
Approved by voters in 2018, Canton’s road millage generates roughly $7 million annually to fund repairs on both Wayne County primary roads and neighborhood streets, Larocque said, noting 15% of that revenue supports the Michigan Department of Transportation’s planned Ford Road boulevard project, while the remainder funds a cycle of local and major road construction throughout the township…
