UMich mandatory reporting policies stir anxiety among faculty, staff

On June 14, 2024, the University of Michigan signed a resolution agreement agreeing to share all Equity, Civil Rights and Title IX complaints alleging discrimination based on shared ancestry with the federal government’s Office for Civil Rights. The University later announced an update making all U-M employees as mandatory reporters, sparking concerns regarding free speech on controversial subjects.

On Monday, presidential pardons were issued to 77 individuals involved in attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. 16 Michigan Republicans were also preemptively blocked from federal indictments for allegedly attempting to pass themselves off as presidential electors following the 2020 election.
