Driver killed in Dexter-area crash identified as Howell woman

DEXTER TWP., MI — A person killed early Tuesday when a car crashed and caught on fire has been identified.

A 59-year-old Howell woman was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle that crashed around 5:15 a.m. Nov. 25 near North Territorial and Madden roads in Dexter Township, confirmed Cmdr. Eugene Rush of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.

Fire crews had been called to the scene for a report of a car on fire on the side of the road, said Doug Armstrong, chief of the Dexter Area Fire Department. Crews arrived to find what appeared to be a single-car crash, Armstrong said. The vehicle had run off the road and into multiple trees…
