New Ann Arbor law allowing tall grass poses fire and pest risks, mayor pro tem says

ANN ARBOR, MI — Letting grass grow over 12 inches tall on private property is no longer illegal in Ann Arbor, but not every City Council member thinks that’s a good thing.

Council voted 8-1 Monday night, Dec. 1, to give final approval to vegetation ordinance changes, eliminating a city rule that vegetation other than trees and shrubs on private property can’t be taller than 12 inches outside of a cultivated bed or planned natural landscape.
