U-M’s Paige Shiver Is the Daughter of Veteran Bears Scout, Jeff Shiver

Before she started working for the University of Michigan athletics division and its then-Head Coach Sherrone Moore, Paige Shiver, the daughter of veteran Chicago Bears scout Jeff Shiver, was profiled by the Bears team because of an illness she was fighting.

The profile story in 2016 on the Chicago Bears website describes Shiver as “an active college student” at that time, who, before she was sick, “would go on 30-minute runs, take cycling classes and lift weights virtually every day without getting tired.” In 2015, while she was a junior at Purdue, she started to feel “exhausted” with pain “throughout her body.” During college, she had a marketing internship in Baton Rouge, LA, and “she knew something was wrong,” the Bears wrote.

“I would go for a run and couldn’t run for more than five minutes because my lungs started getting affected,” said the then-22-year-old from West Lafayette, Ind., to the Bears organization. “It was really hard to catch my breath and my legs felt really heavy, like I could barely lift them up.”…
