Trees down in Tree Town: Stalwarts of Ann Arbor’s Liberty Plaza reduced to stumps

ANN ARBOR, MI — Tree Town’s central downtown plaza suddenly has several fewer trees.

At least five sizable trees in the Ann Arbor public plaza at the corner of Liberty and Division streets were reduced to stumps and piles of sawdust as of Monday, Dec. 22.

It wasn’t immediately clear why.

The city’s parks department and administration didn’t respond to requests for comment, nor did the Downtown Development Authority. City Council members said they didn’t have any information about the tree removals…
