Local governments wouldn’t be able to ban natural gas-powered stoves, water heaters and furnaces in homes under new legislation passed by the Michigan House.
The legislation passed Wednesday, Dec. 17, would forbid local governments from establishing any ban on the use of natural gas or propane and any ban on the installation of infrastructure to transport or distribute natural gas or propane.
The bill passed the House by a 61-42 vote, with all present Republicans and four Democrats voting in favor. The bill is unlikely to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate, where a similar bill has been introduced but hasn’t moved…
