How the Michigan State Police’s Blue Goose Relay to Ann Arbor Began
It all started with a conversation with a grandmother at one of MSP’s “Shop With a Cop” events, which was put on by officers from the MSP’s Wakefield post.
For those unfamiliar, Wakefield is a town at the far west end of the Upper Peninsula, roughly twelve miles from the Wisconsin border.
The grandmother told officers that her two-year-old granddaughter, Vialah, was currently at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, undergoing treatment for neuroblastoma. Obviously, that means that little Vialah’s Christmas would look a lot different this year.
Michigan State Police Jump Into Action to Bring Christmas to Little Girl Battling Cancer
Hearing this, officers from the Wakefield post made a decision – they wanted to make Christmas as magical as they could for Vialah and her family. Unfortunately, Ann Arbor is about a nine-hour drive from Wakefield, and the officers couldn’t just abandon their post to spread Christmas cheer…
