Ann Arbor Opens First Bus-Only Lane

Ann Arbor opened the city’s first bus-only lane last week as part of an overhaul of a portion of State Street, reports Ryan Stanton for M Live. The new lane is paired with a traffic signal that gives northbound buses priority at State and William.

“The new lane is expected to raise visibility of the high-quality transit service along the corridor as frequently running buses bypass lines of cars while increasing service reliability for riders, TheRide spokesperson Jeff Pfeifer said.” According to Stanton, the Downtown Development Authority is working on a major overhaul of Fourth Street that will also include dedicated bus lanes…
