LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The University of Michigan Health-Sparrow has installed Narcan vending machines at its Carson and Clinton community hospitals.
UM Health-Sparrow said in a news release sent to 6 News that the Narcan vending machines will help combat the ongoing opioid epidemic. The goal is to expand access to naloxone, a critical drug that can reduce overdose deaths.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has stocked two vending machines at the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow in St. Johns, to provide free nasal naloxone.
UM Health-Sparrow officials stress the importance of having naloxone available in homes where opioids or sedating medicines are present, as naloxone can sustain a person suffering an overdose until emergency medical services arrive…
